Hernando Cortes was born in 1485 in Medellin, Extremadura, Spain His parents were Martin Cortes de Monroy and Catalina Pizarro Altamirano. Hernando Cortes was attended the University of Salamanca. Failed at Law and left University. He heard about the new world and decided to join the expedition to the West Indies in the year 1502. The expedition reached Hispaniola. Diego Columbus, the new governor of Hispaniola, conquer the island of Cuba and selected Diego Velazquez as commander of the expedition. Hernando Cortes was chosen to go with Velazquez on the expedition in 1511.Hernando Cortes settles on the island of Cuba and becomes a rancher. Velazquez decides to discover new places and explore them and chooses Hernando Cortes to captain an expedition to establish a colony in Mexico. February 19, 1519, with 600 men, and less than 20 horses Cortes sail to Mexico. In 1519 Hernando Cortes and his soldiers went to the Yucatan Peninsula towards Tenochtitlan. Cortes finally gets to Mexico and meets an Indian girl called Malinche who becomes his mistress, guide and interpreter. When the Aztecs heard about Cortes they thought that he was a king-god who had returned. So Montezuma welcome them to the city of Tenochtitlan, there Hernando Cortes learned about the Aztecs culture, saw all the riches and goods that they had. After Hernando Cortes saw all goods that they had he decided to stay. To maintain his position he takes Montezuma and forces him to swear allegiance to King Charles V of Spain. Velazquez sent 1,400 soldiers to arrest Cortes, but Cortes convinces them to join him. When Cortes return to Tenochtitlan,he was attack by millions of Aztecs. Cortes tries to calm down the Aztecs by giving back Montezuma, but they steel wanted Cortes to die. Hernando Cortes and his soldiers are obligated to live Tenochtlitan. Cortes comes back with reinforcements, and conquered 5 million Aztecs with less then 1000 soldiers. He could conquer them with less then 1000 soldiers because they had more advance technology then the Aztecs. Cortes returns to Spain and was given the title "Marques del Valle de Oaxaca.” then he goes back to the new world. In his last expedition he discovers Baja California. Goes back to Spain and Cortez died on December 2, 1547 near Seville.
Cortes new that Aztecs were innocent and good people, why do you think that Hernando Cortes wanted to destroy there city and kill this entire innocent people? What would be a better way he can negotiate with the Aztecs, so he could have what he wanted without fighting?

At that time, taking over land was completely normal. If Hernan Cortes would not have done it then someone else would. Cortes did not want to negotiate land he wanted to conquer and make all that land his countries.

Hernando Cortez didn't want a peaceful negotiation with the Aztecs, He wanted to completely destroy them, and thats what he did. He wanted their riches and wealth and land. Since he was powerful he did exactly that, no questions asked.

Why would he negotiate with them? He didn't want to make deals with indians, he simply wanted their land and their riches. That's why he went there.

I do not agree! I don't think that the best way to make a good nation is to destroy another!
