class topic "Paris Peace Conference"

In the Paris Peace conference, three main leaders offered their opinion. David Lloyd George represented Great Britain, and his main interest was to make Germany pay for this war. United states, represented by Woodrow Wilson, wanted world peace. His 14 points included proposals to ensure world peace in the future: open agreements, arms reductions, freedom of the seas, free trade, and self-determination for oppressed minorities. Finally France, represented by Clemenceau, wanted Germany stripped of their weapons, and also reparations, to cover the cost of war. All of them agreed that German should be in charge of all the reparations because apparently it was them who started the war. German had no choice, but to sign the armistice. This might lead to future conflicts because German would want to gain back the power and take revenge on those countries.

Clemenceau, Lloyd George, and Wilson each went into the conference with their own goals to achieve. It was impossible that they each got what they wanted, therefore they had to compromise.
