Hannibal

Post  rosim. on Thu Apr 16, 2015 10:00 am

Hannibal was born in 247 B.C. in North Africa. Polybius and Livy, whose histories of Rome are the main Latin sources regarding his life, claimed that Hannibal’s father, the great Carthaginian general Hamilcar Barca, brought his son to Spain (a region he had begun to conquer around 237 B.C.) at a young age. Hamilcar died in 229 B.C. and was succeeded by his son-in-law Hasdrubal, who made the young Hannibal an officer in the Carthaginian army. In 221 B.C., Hasdrubal was assassinated, and the army unanimously chose the 26-year-old Hannibal to command Carthage’s empire in Spain. Hannibal swiftly consolidated control in the region from the seaport base of Carthage (New Carthage); he also married a Spanish princess.

Hannibal was a Carthagian and he was the general who attacked Rome and won various battles with the use of elephants and a great military. Sadly, Hannibal lost the warm since he was never sent reinforcements because the messenger and his brother was killed by the Romans. At the end he committed suicide.

Good Job! During the Punic wars Hannibal was trying to defeat the Romans. he used many new technologies like bringing elephants that've served as tanks. He was pretty close to defeat the romans, but he would never get reinforcements from his brother because his message was caught by the romans, and his brother was assassinated.
