The Great Fire

Post  Alianny on Thu Apr 16, 2015 9:52 am

While Nero was in power, he wanted to burn Rome down, so he can build a new Rome but made out of gold. While Nero was visiting Greece in 64 A.D. he had Rome be burnt down. When he came back, he let Rome burn down without stopping it. The burning lasted for about 9 days and at the end, Nero balmed it on the christians. At the time the christians were a small group just beginning, so they were weak. Nero built his golden palace and as entertainment in his parties, he would murder christians. During Nero's empire, many christians were murdered. It was a sad empire.

Alianny what you wrote about the Great Fire created by Nero was really informative. Something that was really crazy was how he blamed the Great Fire being provoked by the Christians. Also how he use that new palace of his for entertainment by which he crucified Christians in front of his people. Still what you wrote about the Great Fire was really good. Very Happy

Great job, Alianny! Did you that at first, Nero’s mother had power, but then Nero removed Agrippina from the empire in 55 AD, because she was too involved in his business. Until 59 AD, Nero was known for his generosity and mildness. During this period, he forbade anything that had to do with bloodshed (shows) and reduced taxes. This side of Nero disappeared when he ordered the murder of his mother, who was accused of treason in 59 AD.

Great work! The great fire lasted for 9 days and as soon as Nero got home, he started to rebuild Rome. Some people say that Nero was in charge of the fire, but Nero blamed it on Christians.
