The Paris peace conference was an international conference, between organized by the victors of World War I. This was held January 18th of 1919 and ended around January 21st of 1920, in Paris, the Palace of Versailles. The leading representatives of the conference, was the prime minister of Great Britain, David Lloyd George, Woodrow Wilson, the president of the US at that time, and George Clemenceau of France. Each of them had their own goals in mind to be accomplished with the conference.

Woodrow Wilson wanted to establish a league of nations, now known as the UN, to prevent future wars. The League of Nations was established January 29th of 1919. He also had 14 points, based on the idea of creating peace so that war was the last resort in the future. George Clemenceau stated that France was the most affected by Germany’s war, and that Germany had to pay for their reparations caused by the war, this idea was also shared with the prime minister of Great Britain, David Lloyd George. France also mentioned that France needed security because they were the ones bordering Germany, they had to be disarmed.

This conference was held for all countries to come and opinionate and to prevent war. Russia could not attend because they had a civil war in their own country. Germany was not invited to the conference, and they were the ones who needed to armistice, which is to give up and be disarmed. This was a cause of the future wars to come, it was unfair to Germany. This triggered Germany in the was to come, like World War 2 in which Germany tried to invade all the countries, and took over most of Europe.

Out of the three men, I strongly agree with Clemenceau because what they mainly needed protection from Germany and of course Germany needed to be punished. I think that Woodrow Wilson was very idealistic because of his ideas that even Clemenceau and Lloyd didn’t agree and they thought that he was out of his mind. Great topic Gloria!

great post Gloria! did you know that žGermany also had to reduce its army to 100,000 men, cut back its navy, and eliminate its air force. And finally signed the armistice on June 28 1918, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

The representatives of each country went into the conference with their own ideas. They had to compromise because it was impossible for them to all get what they wanted.

The Paris Peace Conference was a way of finding a solution of the ending results and statements of WWI. Germany was invited to this meeting so it was an easy way for the other forces to blame everything of Germany. This, however, lead to future problems which leaked to WWII.
