WW1 Treaty of Versailles

Post  Dzazo on Wed Apr 08, 2015 11:53 am

Every nation had different ideas on what to do about World War 1. George Clemenceau, president of France, wanted protection and security in his country because he was right beside its arch-enemy and probably the most hostile nation in World War 1, Germany. Lloyd George, president of Britain, had another idea. Lloyd George wanted to blame everything on Germany, he wanted Germany to pay for everything and to reduce its military, and he did accomplish this idea because they did blame everything on Germany making them pay the War Guilt Clause. Woodrow Wilson wanted long term world peace and wanted to create a union of countries called the League of Nation, which was the ancestor of the United Nations. There could be a future conflict because of the treaty of Versailles because Germany did not take part in this treaty and couldn’t defend itself. They blamed absolutely everything on Germany and gave the nation 3 different punishments. One of the punishments was reparations, they made Germany pay for all the damage made in Europe, and this was a lot of money! Another punishment was the War Guilt Clause which is blaming everything on Germany and embarrassing them. They also demilitarized Germany leaving it at 100,000 soldiers for national security only.

I really dont think the way they settled the war was fair in the slightest. Countries should have taken responsibilty for their own actions, but instead they blamed the entire war on Germany which may have even influenced WWII.
