Socrates

Post  Omeara on Mon Mar 02, 2015 7:12 pm

Socrates encouraged people to examine their own beliefs and ideas. Most of our knowledge of Socrates comes from his student Plato because he kept studying and writing things out and also telling people about his ideas and beliefs. He used a method of questioning now called the Socratic method, which was the way to seek truth and self-knowledge.

Volney what you have written about Socrates was well-done, because you mention some important facts. Another thing is that you could have mention he was sent to jail. It was all, because he was judging against religion if it is actually true that God made the world. Another thing is that you could have talked about how he was poisoned at last because he didn't want to tell that God made the world. Still what you have is good. Very Happy

Great job, Volney!!! Sadly Socrates was sent to jail for questioning the people's religion and how they think. Since he defended himself in court, he was goven a death penalty. His students were very sad by this. He was given poison for his death.

Great job, Volney! You are correct! Socrates was a very important man back in the day and we still use some of his research and information, over 1500 years later. Although he never actually wrote anything, we know everything about him from his student, Plato. Later on, after he died, Plato wrote books of his discoveries making him even more famous than before.
