Industrial Revolution

Post  Belinda K. on Mon Mar 02, 2015 11:46 am

The industrial revolution started in the 1780’s in Great Britain. The reason that the industrial revolution started in Britain was because they had access to their natural resources that where in their territory like iron and coal. There were many new technologies like the seed drill, which helped in turning the land (new soil) and make it easier to plant seeds. The wealthy people started to build factories which made the farmers move in the cities in order to get a job, these factories made people have no jobs because the machines did the work for them, this is called urbanization. Also the worker where having difficulty with housing, owners would by a piece of land and close it with fences and no one was allowed to live in that area, this was called enclosure movement. Textiles is one of the most developed systems, around the 1600's it became popular to import cotton cloths to India. Raw cotton distributed to peasant families who spun it into thread and wove thread into cloth.
