Industrial Revolution inventions

Post  Romane D. on Sun Mar 01, 2015 5:09 pm

The cottage industry was slow. As a demand for cloth grew, and inventors came up with several machines that revolutionized the industry.
In 1764- James Hargreaves invents a machine called the spinning jenny.
In 1787- Edmund Cartwright creates water-powered bomb.
In 1760- James Watt improved the steam engine.
In 1733- John Kay’s creates the flying shuttle, it allowed weavers to work so fast that they outpaced spinners.
In 1769- Richard Arkwright did the water frame and used waterpower to speed up the spinning.

All these inventions have really impacted our present life and without them everything would be different. It was a really important time in history because it was when many new things were invented and extremely useful; they have also impacted so many people in that period of time.

What other inventions have you heard of that were created in this time?

Some of the biggest advancements were in steam power. New fuels such as coal and petroleum, were used in these new steam engines. This revolutionized many industries including textiles and manufacturing. Another invention was called the telegraph. This made communicating across the ocean easier and much faster. Messages could be sent and received in minutes and delivered the same day. Writing a letter and sending it overseas could take weeks.
Great topic Romane, keep it up ! Very Happy
