the factory system

Post  Gloria H. on Thu Feb 19, 2015 8:10 pm

the conditions in factories were terrible, the workers who had come from working in plantation (agricultural lands) were not used to this type of work. While farming irregular hours and alternating with rest, the factory system was constant labor. not only were men and women supposed to work more than 10 hours a day put children from the ages 5and above were forced to work this hard in a factory.
Factory owners made the workers labor long hours, to ensure that their machines were always producing. There were strict rules and punishment for those who disobeyed. For instance, workers could be fined for being late or fired for being intoxicated at work.

The fact that they had children working in their factories is so awful. The brutal ways the factory owners treated their emplyees is so inhumane. It's terrible to think that there are some factories still standing today that use child labour. It's embarrasing to the human race that such disgusting acts can be comitted with no punishment.
