Socrate's Death

Post  Alianny on Fri Jan 30, 2015 9:57 am

Socrates was a great philosopher who died at the age of 70. He was put to death because he was always questioning people about their beliefs in God. The churches found that as a disrespect and saw him as a threat, so he was sent to trial. He defended himself at trial and for that reason, the judges didn't really believe. He was set for a death penalty, but he was not very worried or sad about it. Socrates died bravely, even though his students were very sad about his death.

Socrates' Death

Post  David Strauss on Fri Jan 30, 2015 10:09 am

Good Job! With his death Plato took the time to put almost all the monologues that Socrates had with the people of Athens and wrote it down. Socrates also died by drinking poison.

Great job Alianny! Socrates was a very wise man and knew how to take things in the right way. I honestly don’t understand why and how he took his death penalty so easily. Maybe it was since he was already very old, I mean 70 at that time is like a hundred and something today. He wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for believing in God or not, basically religion issues, which were a big deal at that time. It just so sad….

Good post! Socrates was put to death for questioning the religion. He was forced to eat a hemlock plant, which is very poisonous. His student was very sad because of his death.
