A Spartan's Life

Post  Ophirkes on Mon Jan 19, 2015 5:22 pm

A Spartan’s life is very different from all of our lives. They weren’t spoiled kids or lazy ones either; they didn’t go regularly with a brief case to work or used technology to see what’s new. Obviously they lived in the olden days so they didn’t have technology, but still. Their lives were the total opposite of ours. Sense infantry, they were taught to fight because Sparta was opened to everyone.
As a kid, between the ages of 0 and 7, also known as youth, the child stayed at home. Between the ages of 7 to 19, the kid was sent to the barracks, were he would be taught how to fight and be hurt and beaten regularly. Once reached the age of 20 to about 60, the man would be in the military helping out and doing the regular job: fight. If the adult would’ve survived, he would’ve been free to live his own life beginning at the age of 61. Up until there, he was forced to do something for his country, a life or death job.

Good job Ophir! You explained very well everything about how a Spartan life would of been like. Did you know that when they were in the barracks they were not well fed and were punished if they were caught stealing food? They had a tough life. Good post! Very Happy

A Spartan's life was very hard, especially for the men or young boys. They were sent to the barracks at the age of seven where they were whipped, learned how to fight, and had to steal in order to obtain their food. Not a lot of people could survive this because it very harsh. It was either kill or be killed. At the end, these men became into great warriors and at the age of 60, they could retire.
