"Cyrus the Great"

Post  Ophirkes on Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:08 pm

Egypt had many, many Pharaohs, each one similar to the others because they followed the same religious acts and such, meaning, they were all similar in a way. In Persia and Assyria it was the same, all pharaohs were basically the same thing, except that some were harsher than others. In Persia, there was a man that changed the meaning of the country and of the people of that country forever….this man was “Cyrus the Great”.
Unlike previous rulers and preceding emperors/conquerors, Cyrus was different. Everyone liked him, even his own enemies. He demonstrated wisdom and compassion in the conquest and organization of his empire. He won approval by installing not only Persians, but also native peoples as government officials in their own state. Unlike the Assyrian rulers, he had a reputation for mercy. Medes, Babylonians, and Jews all accepted him as their ruler. Cyrus had a genuine respect for other civilizations.

Great post! Cyrus the Great was a very smart ruler. It was him, who created the powerful Persian State that stretched from Asia Minor to India.
