the scientific method and the laws of motion

Post  Gloria H. on Mon Nov 24, 2014 3:38 pm

The scientific method was one of the main accomplishments of the 17th century; Sir Francis Bacon created this. He believed that inductive reasoning should be used to learn about nature, this meaning reason from a narrow focus to a broader focus. The scientific method uses systematic observation and a well-organized experiment to test a hypothesis and then lead to a correct conclusion. He believed that this method could be used to give powers to the people to conquer nature. The scientific method made for collecting, analyzing evidence and testing several time until a stable conclusion. This was crucial of the evolution in science even today. If scientists do not follow the scientific method their work will be discredited.
The laws of motion (law of inertia and gravity) were brought up in the 17th century by Sir Isaac Newton. The laws of motion were three scientific laws that described the motion of people and these were fundamental to classical mechanics. Newton published them in Philophiae Naturilis Principia Mathematic in 1687. He then discovered calculus using these laws. Both Kepler’s view on planetary motion and Galileo’s mechanism ended in the work of Isaac Newton. His law of universal gravitation combined terrestrial and celestial mechanics into one system that was described the whole world in a mathematical formula. The three laws were the following: 1. The law of inertia, which was that if an object is at rest it, will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. 2.Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. 3. For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.

I think that the scientific method is one of the most important things in science or even history because our life wouldn’t be the same without it, we would know less things and this would be less organized. Now that it exists it allows scientists to do good experiments and even students like us when we do our science fair! That’s a really good topic gloriaaaa <3
