Thutmose III

Post  Alianny on Mon Nov 17, 2014 7:03 pm

Thutmose III was the son of king Thutmose II and Isis. When his father died, he could not take over the throne since he was just an infant. His stepmom, Hatshepsut took over for him for about 22 years. Thutmose III had very little power of the throne during those years. When Hatshepsut died, he had all his power and became into a wonderful king. He was a brilliant military leader and great ruler.  He was many things including a Pharaoh, general, administrator, statesmen, horseman, archer, and an athlete. As a general, he never lost a battle during the 32 years that he ruled Egypt.

Now, many people thought that since Hatshepsut had taken over his reign, he would be angry at her. When seeing so many monuments of her destroyed, they thought that this was actually true, but what actually happened was that Thutmose just wanted to erase the memory that a woman ruled Egypt for 20 years. It was not because of hatred, but because he did not like to think or let people know that a woman ruled his throne for all those years. In 1450 B.C, Thutmose died and he was mummified. When they found his mummy, it was kind of destroyed because some tomb robbers got to it first. His mummy is now found in the Cairo Museum.

Wow Alianny….I am speechless…I mean there are things you just said that I didn’t know even existed! Don’t you think it’s just fascinating how we still have objects from over 3000 years ago? It’s just unbelievable! Anyways, what you said can be true, but no one really knows why Thutmosis III destroyed all of his stepmothers monuments, maybe it is because of that reason, but no one really knows.

Great! Thutmosis III got the throne when he was 2 years old, but since he was not able to rule at that age, Hatshepsut took his throne. Later, until she died, they were corulers. After the death of Hatshepsut, Thutmosis destroyed the evidence of her.
