Hatshepsut's Rule

Post  Ophirkes on Mon Nov 17, 2014 5:25 pm

Hatshepsut was the first woman pharaoh, but she had many qualities, such as not liking to show her feminine side. She was the oldest daughter of the pharaoh Thutmosis I. Thutmosis II was her step-son. When her husband died, the oldest son became the newest pharaoh. A little bit later, he died too. The only son left was about 2 years old, and so, he could not be Egypt’s new pharaoh; Hatshepsut was the new pharaoh.
She had a prosperous reign, constructing buildings, ordering military and trading expeditions, and encouraging mining activities. People believe it was to legitimize her rule. Some people think that Thutmosis III ruined all the remains of Hatshepsut’s rule because of mainly two things:
• As an act of revenge.
• To protect the royal inheritance of his own son, Amenhotep II.

Good job Ophir! Did you know that Hatshepsut even had statues made of her that hid her feminine side? In these statues she even had a beard. I think that this was a very interesting topic, Great Job!

Good Work Ophir!!
She was a pharaoh that wanted to live all of the building that was done during her ruling. She wanted people to know that men are no the only ones that can be pharaohs or do things that they say that women can´t do. She wanted to astonish the people and show them that women are able to do what men can do too. She didn´t like showing her feminine side so she decide that when they built a statue they would put a beard. Great Work Once Again Ophir!! Smile

Nicely done, Ophir! Queen Hatshepsut change the architecture style. People no longer used pyramids after she built her funerary temple western Thebes. Many pharaoh after her were buried in the temple-like buildings.

Hatshepsut was a great ruler. I believe that she did better at ruling than any of those other real men. She made the empire better and improved the military. She made great decisions during her reign. She also accomplished something huge which was actually ruling Egypt and making the decisions there. Very Happy
