The Indus Valley Civilization

Like in Mesopotamia and in the Egypt, India had also had an early civilization which emerged in near water resources. Between the years 3000 and 1500 B.C. the valleys of the Indus River helped out many civilizations as far as the Himalaya and the Arabian Sea. Two of the most important cites were in modern cities of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro. The houses as three stories high but they all had a plan to have a space that surrounds the house. They also have a well known capacity to take care of the garbage and drainage system. The Indus civilization economy was based on farming because of the river which left wealthy silt when the river rose. Very Happy

In the Indus Valley civilization people were very wealthy and smart. Archaeologists have said that they had much more advanced techniques than other civilizations. They had plumbing in their houses which made living better. The houses were huge and not only that, but they lived close to rivers because of farming and the need of water. Most of their farming depended on these weather events called monsoons which only occurred two times a year. If it weren't for the monsoons, then I doubt there would be any farming in this civilization.

Great topic! The Indus River was very important for the Indus Valley Civilization. The Monsoons were also very important for the Indus Valley Civilization, it helped them farm. Monsoons only happened two times a year, but when it happened it rained a lot and this was very good for the crops. Good Job Isaac! Very Happy

The Indus Valley civilization is a very interesting topic! It's also being called the Harappan Civilization, because Harappa is the first city discovered along the Ganges River.
