Triangular Trade

Post  Belinda K. on Tue Oct 14, 2014 6:43 pm

The Triangular Trade was between Europe, Africa, and the Americas. It started from Europe; the crops or raw materials would be brought into Europe from the Americas. The raw materials would be manufactured and brought over to Africa. In Africa they would trade the raw crops for slaves to be brought into the Americas. In the Americas they are put to do labor work, from that point it continues. There where many effects in these three continents, Europe got very wealthy, Africa lost a lot of its population, and the Americas developed a lot.

Great post for test review Smile Though, while the sentence, "[..] the Americas developed a lot" may sound positive, the Triangular Trade had resulted in many bad consequences for that continent. They basically became a large factory for Europe, and although they gained wealth, plantations, and new animals, they also lost their history. Their native people and culture, which was - from my perspective - an amazing example of how we should be living. In tune with nature, showing respect for everything around us. Like water, the people lived with nature, taking and giving at an equal rate. Today, I'd rather describe humanity as a tornado, sucking everything up, leaving destruction in its wake.

Did you know that Bartolome de la Casas was the one who gave the idea to the Spanish to start using Africans as slaves. When he set the New Laws, which banded the usage of Native slaves, he gave them the idea of using Africans. This wasn't such a good idea because that caused so many African lives. The triangular trade was the trade of slaves for raw materials. That's a perfect prof of African slave trade.

The triangular trade had a very negative effect on Africa, and is probably the main reason why Africa is so poor today. It was giving too much and not receiving enough, meanwhile The Americas and Europe was getting wealthier and more powerful.

The triangular trade is one of the reasons that Africa is such undeveloped country now a days. It brought the population of Africa down while the power of Europe rose higher and higher.

The triangular trade was a great triumph for Europe, but Africa had the negative side of the process. Unfortunately, what could have been a great thing was turned awful and tragic because of a simple choice to trade humans for cheap labor. It's truly despicable what they did.

The Triangular Trade was created to help Europe from the very beginning because even though they sold their manufactured goods to the Africans, the Africans were basically just giving them the resources to make many more for cheaper prices than what they got them for because they traded them for free labor to make them causing the African population to decrease drastically.
