Egyptian History

Post  Ophirkes on Sun Sep 28, 2014 1:06 pm

Egyptian history began at around 3100 BC, when King Menes, the first pharaoh, united the Upper and the Lower Egypt into a single kingdom. Before the two parts were united, to show the difference in the kingdoms, each king had a different crown. The king from Upper Egypt had a white crown that looked like an upside down cone; the king from Lower Egypt had a red crown that looked like a chair. To show the unity, Menes, or any other ruler after him, had a red and white crown that had both the symbols of the anterior ones, and it showed the symbol of unity. Menes also created the first royal dynasty, in which he and his whole family ruled the country and it passed down through generations.
In the Egyptian History, obviously in its past times, it had three main periods that marked the three main times of its “kingdoms”. The first kingdom was called the Old Kingdom that lasted from 2700 BC to 2200 BC. This was the longest period that an Egyptian kingdom ever had. The second stage was called the Middle Kingdom, which lasted from 2000 BC to 1600 BC. This period only lasted 400 years due to its consideration at the time. The last period was called the New Kingdom and this lasted from 1550 BC to 1069 BC. How long do you think that all the kingdoms together lasted?

Nice work, Ophir! You chose a very interesting topic. King Menes united the Upper and Lower Egypt into a single kingdom and created the first royal dynasty. The Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms lasted for about 1600 years all together. Egyptian history is a very interesting topic to write about. You did very job describing it.

Great Job!!! Your topic on the unity of the two Egyptian kingdoms was very interesting. King Menes must have been a very powerful and honored king because of what he did. To answer your question, I would say that I think at one point the two parts of Egypt were confused and mad because of being united, but it has possibly lasted a very long time. Very Happy
