Florence

Post  Alicia M. on Thu Sep 11, 2014 9:35 pm

Florence grew into center of trade and manufacturing, it produced many gifted poets, artists, architects, scholars, and scientists. Florence was one of the wealthiest areas in Italy. It was also known for its major trade route due to its geographic location, and was very active in commerce center.

The Medici family was also a very important family for Florence. They were a banking family and huge patrons of the arts so they alone helped to stimulate a lot of the artistic culture there. They also built a palace, designed by Michelozzo Di Bartolommeo for Cosimo de Medici, and was built between 1445 and 1460. It was well known for its stone masonry.

Florence was probably THE greatest city of the Renaissance. So many great artists lived there. So much architecture. So much art. So much history. All in just one Italian city. Remarkable!

Italian cities are still filled today with ancient art and remains. In some parts of Italy, the street are still made from lava of a volcano that exploded. Just by walking on those streets, the way it's set up, is so ancient and u can picture the old Italians running around and ruling their beautiful cities.

You described the renaissance in an amazing way, just a little fact to add its that it started there because they had such talented artists, architects, scholars, and scientist, that they were reminded of all the amazing accomplishments that they had in the city! Great topic aliciaa bananarama
