Hirohito is known in Japan as Emperor Shōwa was born on April 29, 1901 and he died January 7, 1989, the same year as the cold war ended. He was the emperor of Japan from December 25, 1926 until his death the seventh of January, 1989. In Japan he isn’t called by Hirohito, even though outside of Japan everyone knows him by the name of Hirohito. The name Hirohito means abundant benevolence in Japanese.

At the beginning of Hirohito’s reign, Japan was already a great power. It had the ninth largest economy in the world, after Italy, and the third largest naval power. It was also one of the four permanent members of the council of the League of Nations.

After the end of World War II he was never persecuted for committing war crimes, even though many other leading government figures were, he wasn’t despite his involvement. After the war, Hirohito became the symbol of a new state as well as a symbol for Japan’s recovery, from the war and bombing, and when his reign came to an end, Japan had emerged as the world’s second largest economy.

The Axis was made up of very passionate leaders. Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito were all obsessed with the idea of forming an invincible empire. This is why they were all expanding their borders and it is also the reason for the countless amounts of death during the war. Great job, Maya!
