North Korean Labor Camps

Post  ebznski on Sun Mar 30, 2014 5:11 pm

North Korean Labor camps are very similar to those in the Holocaust except they are still around today. The purpose of these camps however, is not to cause the destruction of an entire race, they are used as punishment for people who had broken the law, or tried to escape to China. Basically how it works is that you are to be in the labor camp for the rest of your life and then 2 generations after you to act as a "cleanser" for what you had done against North Korea. These camps are not as brutal as the concentration camps during WWII because the people that worked there did not randomly choose a group of people and burn them alive. Every time someone is killed it is considered a disciplinary action, such actions would be considered as stealing grains of corn off the floor or not telling a guard when an escape plan was being formed, but if you do not do anything "bad" during your time in the labor camp they will reward you by letting you get married.
The children in the labor camps grew up differently. They are not taught pity and they think only of themselves because that is what they have to do to survive. Without realizing it the closes thing that the children get to being happy is receiving a reward after telling a guard that someone had stolen food.

That is an extremely sad story. I think that people should have done something about it to try and prevent things like that to happen.

I agree that people should do something about it but they can't because it is going on in communist territory and they can't try and stop it without starting a war with North Korea.
