Development of Greek City-States

Post  Joshua T on Sun Mar 02, 2014 7:42 pm

The development of the independent Greek city-states was affected by the geography of Greece. Greece itself was extremely mountainous. Greece was also divided into hundreds of tiny islands in the Aegean Sea. This affected the communication between the city-states because getting from one place to another was not easy. Most of the time Greek city-states were not close to each other, so in order to communicate with the other city-states you would have to travel a long way. The mountains made traveling much harder, therefore the city-states developed independently.
