History

While learning and studying history we are unconsciously trusting what we are being told, but can we actually trust these sources? We make history every minute of everyday but what we did yesterday or a second ago can never change no matter what we do, so why is it that History today is taught and understood differently than 50 years ago. In “Rewriting American History,” by Frances FitzGerald, one learns how different history is being taught then when the author learned it in the 60’s. FitzGerald proves how history evolves over time according to different countries around the world, when in reality it has no reason to. He also proves how differently readers over time are taking in the information they are being taught. History books have been changing over time and with the changing in books, history has somewhat changed as well. History is supposed to be past events which happened, there is no way history can be changed. There should not be different stories, all history should be told the same way, viewpoints and opinions should be personal and kept to ones self. As disappointing as it sounds, we can not stop change from happening but we can try to get passed this change by trying to learn and understand what really happened. Studying our past helps us understand our present and no matter how much historians change history, history itself will never be changed.

Awesome topic Lara! That's so interesting that although history is actually the same, people still consider it to change which isn't possible.
