D-Day

Allies fought their way past hidden underwater mine, barb wire, and machine gun fire. Because Germany thought this was a diversion and the real invasion would occur els where they were slow to respond, not paying much attention and trying to figure out where the real attack was going to happen. This gave the allied forces time to set up. 2 million men and 500,000 vehicles where landed within 3 months. Allies pushed through German defensive lines, liberating Paris by august 1944. Both sides suffered many losses by January 1945 but the Allied lines held.
