Schlieffen Plan

Post  maddie on Mon Apr 29, 2013 10:42 pm

Like the Russians, the Germans had a military plan. This plan was called the Schlieffen plan because general Alfred Von Schleiffen helped draw up the plan. It called for a two front war with France and Russia. Russia and France had formed a military alliance in 1894.The plan was that Germany would conduct a holding against Russia while most of the German army would invade France rapidly, and after France was defeated Germany would move east to invade Russia. On august 4th Great Britain entered, and declared war on Germany. Now by this time, all the great powers of Europe were at war.
