A veteran's story 2

Post  Kat.B on Sun Apr 28, 2013 9:26 pm

Another story. There are a lot of them. Some I just don't remember, some are forever in my memory.
"A small camp. We were surrounded by Germans. No way out. Our friend, a boy, who was badly injured made a choice that saved our life. He had a hole in his leg. A blood poisoning had started. It was war, we couldn't take him with us, but we couldn't just leave him. "Go, but give me a grenade", he said. And we did. We had to leave him. We slipped away from the camp unnoticed. When Germans entered the camp, we heard and saw an explosion. Germand were dead. As our hero was." No

Nice topic Kat. This excerpt is actually really interesting. Is it from a book? What is this from? Who are you quoting? Is this from World War II when the Jews tried to escape from the Nazi's? Where was this?
