The first Olympic games ever recorded go back to Greece in 776. These games where dedicated to the gods of Olympia to show off who’s the strongest, fastest or whatever events they had. The Olympic games where close to the religion and the cults to Zeus; but they weren’t exactly an integral part of the rite. These games took place in Olympia in the western part of Peloponnesia. They believed that these games unified Greece and they owed this to the religion. The ancient greeks held this games every four years in summer where there was a full moon; they planned this dates so that the games could go overnight with small times in between each game for the Victor to be honored. They first announce the name of the winner, they the judge puts a crown made of palm branches and ties red ribbons to his head and hands while the crowd cheers. cheers congratulations

Only Greek male citizens were allowed to participate if the had no record of murderer or such thing. They began training a year before the competition and a month away from the games they would move to Olympia. People from all over the Greece gathered to sell things, buy goods, recite poems, and negotiate business. The official award ceremony was held on the temple of Zeus, also referred as the Altis, since it was so elevated. There they would have a banquet and would announce the name of the winners, name of the father and his homeland. Then they would place the olive tree wrath on the winner’s head. People from all over Greece wouldn’t do this for many or anything like that they would do this for the honor of wearing the sacred olive wrath king and to be seen by the Olympian gods as someone unique. afro
