Katheryn Howard Henry's V Wife

Post  Hlabelle on Sat Sep 10, 2011 10:35 am

Katheryn Howard is said to be born around 1518-1524, the exact date it unknown. Katheryn Howard was Henry’s fifth wife. She was first cousin of Anne Boleyn Henry’s second wife. Katheryn was the daughter of Lord Edward Howard brother of Thomas Howard who was the Duke of Norfolk. Katheryn’s father had found a place for her at the Court I wait for Henry’s fourth wife. As a young and attractive girl she caught Henry’s attention really fast who then bathed her in wealth.
Henry’s current wife was Anne of Cleves and sixteen days after the annulment of their marriage he married Katheryn who was only 19 years at the time and was said to be pregnant of Henry who was 49. Less than a year into their marriage rumors of infidelity went against Katheryn. In part she couldn’t be blamed much for seeking company of younger men closer to her age because Henry was and old man who had gained a lot of weight, and was dealing with an ulcerated leg that produced a foul smell.
Two years after the marriage Katheryn was accused of adultery and treason. She was beheaded with a single stroke and was buried close to her cousin Anne Boleyn. It is said that her final words were “I die a Queen, but I would rather have died the wife of Culpeper” who had been one of Katheryn’s romances, but this is widely discredited.

I think it is really odd how Katherine and Anne were first cousins, but maybe at the time it wouldn't be considered very weird. I believe Henry wasn't the best husband, and maybe she would have prefered to be dead than to keep on lving her life with a man like Henry.

Katherine was another of the unintelligent wives who married Henry. I respect her for saying those last words because to be married to a man like Henry must have been hell.

Catherine Howard was Henry's fifth wife, they got married almost immediately after he divorced Anne of Cleves. But only two years after their marriage he beheaded for committing adultery. Although they don't know her exact age she was approximately only 17 years old.

Can someone tell me why a women of 19 years of age wanted to marry a man that was 49 and killed 3 of his previous wives? This is so stupid, i just dont get it. Why would you like to marry the man who diheaded your cousin. I just cant understand! There is a lot more in a marriage then money, there is love and other things, and if all his wives married him for money, THERE ALL STUPID!

Nice post! Very Interesting.
