Alessandro di Mariano Filipepi better known as Sandro Botticelli or Botticelli was born in 1445 and died May 17, 1510. He was an Italian Florentine painter during the early Italian Renaissance. Botticelli became an apprentice at the early age of 14 and by 1470 he had his own workshop. In 1481 Sandro was one of the summoned by Pope Sixtus IV to fresco the walls of the Sistine Chapel.
Botticelli was already little employed by 1502. In 1504 he was one of the members of the committee who would appoint where Michelangelo’s David would be placed. Later on his work started loosing scale, it expressed distorted figures and a non-realistic use of color. By 1510 Botticelli died.

Some of his art works include: 1. Venus and Mars, 2. Primavera, and 3.The Birth of Venus.
