Pasteurization
Pasteurization is the process of heating a food product (such as milk) to a very high temperature, then cooling it back down again. Doing this kills bacteria and slows the reproduction of new bacteria and other pathogens. This process made it easier to keep healthy and prevent from catching deadly sickness and diseases such as diphtheria, salmonellosis, strep throat, scarlet fever, listeriosis, brucellosis and typhoid fever. The most common pasteurized foods are that of beverages, and dairy products, since these are the most susceptible items to bacteria and diseases. This process of pasteurization was created in 1864 by a microbiologist Louis Pasteur.
Before, many people would become sick from drinking unpasteurized food, but then Louis came along. Many people were skeptical about the new process being performed on their food, so many of them did not drink it. Eventually, a disease broke out and people were getting sick from the milk, but those who were drinking pasteurized milk remained untouched by the epidemic. The population noticed that everyone who drank the pasteurized product was not being infected. This made the people realize that the process actually worked in preventing diseases; thus, pasteurization became a standard and people began to prefer pasteurized products.
Since then health has improved and the chances of catching a disease has greatly decreased. If we had not discovered this process, much of the population would have continued to decrease and the world would differ greatly than it would today.

How do you think you would have felt if you were a person in 1864, and pasteurization was discovered?

Re: Pasteurization
If i were a person in the year 1864 i would feel much more safe of bacteria. I would not take the risk of drinking unpasteurized milk or other drinks. Because i would know that their is a chance of a bacteria in which kill you or just give you the flew. Anyway i would only drink pasteurized beverages in the year 1864 if i knew about it.
