Medieval Torture

The Medieval period of the middle ages was really violent and blood thirsty. In barbarous times the cruel and merciless feeling which induced legislators to increase the horrors of torture. The torture chambers were established mainly in the castles. Laws or custom did not involve for the treatment of the prisoners who faced torture. Varieties of tortures were used depending on the victims’ crime or social status. Torture was used for extract information or confessions, to intimidate, discourage revenge or punish.
Some methods used for torture were: ripping out teeth or nails, beating, blinding, boiling, bone breaking, branding and burning, castration, choking, cutting, disfigurement, dislocation, drowning, flagellation, whipping and beating, flaying, roasting, genital mutilation, limb of finger removal, starvation or even tongue removal. Its even funny that they even tickled them as a method to inflict suffering. Some of the methods to compress the limbs were by ropes, injection of water, vinegar, or even oil into the body.
Some of the instruments or device for torture were: boot or Spanish boot, branding irons, brank, the collar…
In my opinion this is really cruel how can a person be so mean to this people even though they deserve it.

One of the most common places where people got tortured was in the bottom of a castle. On the first floor (underground) people were brought to be tortured. Being tortured was probably very common.

the torture in the medieval time were very brutal and they were very bloody. the most common torture was the Rake, i believe, that was when the criminal was put on a table adn was attached to several ropes, these ropes were attached on the victomes hands and legs so that wwhe nthe tortur master would cranke the ropes the criminal would be pulled in all direction. this torture would be use commanly because it would dislocate every joint in the body or if you pulled it even more it could rip a person apart.
