Unrest in Egypt

Egypt’s president has been Mr. Hosni Mubarak for 30 years. The president had a huge influence on the country. When there was a news report about him he wanted to change it so that it was telling something good about him. When someone wrote something bad about him, he could get them killed. The president was also known to be very corrupt. This is why the Egyptians wanted him to step down. This old president, 82, listened to the huge protesting crowd and stepped down.
On Monday, January 3, 2011, Angry Christians demonstrated there was a church that had been bombed. This horrible event killed 21 people. The Egyptian population wants to change the condition they live in, and they will do almost everything to accomplish this. Demonstrators chased the minister’s car with sticks and stones to make their point clear.
January 28, 2011, the protestors have not given up their fight. The government is now trying to stop the protestors and shut off the entire internet in the whole country. They try to avoid any contact with the outside World. Later the government has given up. The whole government of Egypt stepped down, and now the military is under control of the country. The military is under control because they have all the power in the country. They have the weapons, so why would anyone mess with them.
The latest numbers are that 74 people and at least 2000 people are injured in only 5 days of protesting. But luckily it is much calmer in Egypt now. There is still people protesting, but there is no more fights against the government and the police. Let’s hope this is the end of the revolution that the Egyptian population deserved.
