James Watt was an Irish inventor and a mechanical engineer. He was born on the 19th of January 1736 in a city named Greenock, Renfrewshire. When Watt was 18, he went to London to study instrument-making. After a year he returned back to Scotland to start his own instrument-making business. Then he studied at the university of Glasgow where he became interested in engines. In 1764 Watt maried his own cousin Magaret Miller, and had five children with her. When Magaret died, he had another wife named Ann MacGregor with who he had 2 children with.
James Watt made a radical change in the world when he improved Newcomen's steam engine. Newcomen's engine was not efficient because most of the times it didn't work. With his improved steam engine trains could travel safer and much faster. More railroads came in Britain with an effect that traveling became more popular. Iron could be spread by big amounts throughout Great Britain. Thanks to Watt Britain became a very wealthy country. Cool
