Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
On January 20th, 1793, the National Convention condemned Louis XVI to death. The next day he met his fate. His journey began in a carriage along with an English priest named Henry Edgeworth, who wrote down everything that happened that day. Edgworth said they couldn't speak to each other in the carriage. That's why he gave Louis a book of psalms to read.
Once the carriage stopped, all you could see were cannons and armed citizens The guards surrounded Louis and he tried fighting them off, but then they calmed him down. When he stood up by the guillotine, he said he was an innocent man. Many say that it took two drops of the axe to sever Louis' head. After that they took his body to the cemetery at the Church of Madeleine.
Marie Antoinette was also executed, but only a few months after Louis. On October 16, 1793 Marie was brought out to the streets of Paris. Unlike Louis, she held her chin up high all the way until the last step. She showed much more respect than Louis. In fact, its said that she stepped on the executioner's foot by accident. She took her last breath to apologize for steeping on his foot.

Re: Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
Although Marie Antonette and King Louis XVl tried to escape from the angry mob behind them by dressing up as peasants they were caught while they were trying to fleed Paris. I think they both diserved to be executed because it was their fault that France was in crisis. And after it happened a new leader rose, Napoleon who would try rule France for the better.

Re: Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
this event made the people of france really happy. It may have been done for the best of all. i don't agree with the fact they killed antoinette. I can also understand people of france,Imagine working hard and then giving all the money you had work for to pay taxes and not having money to buy food or baying what you need . It was for good that the French revolution happened because the government stopped abusing of the people and eliminates the monarchy!!!!
