The Self-made Emperor
Napoleon led a normal life. He was born on the the French ruling island off the coast of Italy, Corsica. Since then, Napoleon grew up hating the French but what he didnt know is that he would end up ruling the country he hated. When he was nine years old, he was sent to military school in France, but he was like an outsider. He was ambitious and loved power. Right when he was twenty years old, the Revolution had just broke out. He was eager to make a name for himself and he was at the right place at the right time. He favored the Jacobins and republican rule and found the personalities and conflicts of the French Revolution confusing. Napoleon had many successes in war. He failed to conquer Egypt so he managed to hide the stories of his loss. He then became from general to political leader and set up the Consulate by overthrowing the Directory.
Two years later, Napoleon had gained enough power to become the Emperor of the French. He invited the pope to his coronation but something was particular about this one. The pope usually crowned you king, but Napoleon took the crown out of the pope's hands and placed it on his head. He showed his ambition and that he was the only one who ruled the throne. Every step he took to power, he held a plebiscite, which was where people where given a question and they would have to answer yes or no to decide is that law would be put or not and the French, strongly supported him.

He was a really important person for History and he affected it in diffrent ways. French people loved him but his enemies probably wished his death. He can be judged and complimented at the time , since he brought wealth to France but he had to kill millions of people. And I think it wasn't neccessary.
