Triangular Trade

Post  Paola fix on Sun Dec 12, 2010 7:27 pm

This Transatlantic slave trade was formed by three trips, which involved Europe, Africa and the Americas. The exchanges had a big affect on all 3. Firstly exchanges from Europe to Africa consisted of manufactured goods like tools, clothes and different things that would be very useful to Africans, the reason behind the trade was for Europe to be able to get slaves from Africa to work in the Americas, since Africans were immune to the climate in the Americas and were hard workers, this was the best idea to go with. From Africa slaves were sent to America on a harsh and cruel trip, they were chained and packed together and were fed once a day, barely enough to survive, the route was called the Middle Passage. It's estimated that by the end approximately 11-13 million slaves were brought to the America's, however about 10 to 30 percent of slaves died on the way. By the 1500s slaves became the most important trade good from Africa. As the slaves worked in the West Indies and other parts of America, they sent natural resources back to Europe, resources like Potatoes, corn, cattle, pigs, goats, chickens, these goods had a huge impact on the growing population of Europe, and the migration of millions of people to the new world. As the population grew the demands for goods and services did as well, called inflation, this was resulted there to be a Commercial Revolution in Europe.

That is really sad how african people were badly and cruely used in this time. Africa would be a rich country now if slavery trade never happened

The Triangular trade was a great benefit for Europe. All they had to do is give manufactured goods like muskets, and that way they would gain slaves so the could get natural resources. As usual everything had its ups and downs. In this trade system the down part was Africa. They only received manufactured goods, but lost thousands of slaves. Those salves preferred dying than being stacked up in piles and being treated as dirt. On the the other hand the Americas had to give away natural resources. I think the should of set up a better trade system that was more fair to all parts (or countries).
